Substitutionary Idol

Substitutionary Idol Spell3

Abjuration

Traditions divine, occult

Cast 1 hour (focus, somatic, verbal)

Duration 8 hours

You prepare a small statuette that represents your deity or the spirits you revere (worth at least 25 gp times your level) and imbue a portion of your essence, taking damage up to your level. For every Hit Point of damage inflicted, the idol gains 5 temporary Hit Points. Once you complete the spell, any damage you take is split evenly between you and the idol, as though you were the target of the shield other spell.

If you move more than 100 feet from the idol, the effect is suppressed, but the duration continues to elapse. If all the idol’s Hit Points are expended, the spell immediately ends.

Any excess damage from the attack that reduces the idol’s Hit Points to 0 is dealt to you.
